What are flange types

- May 26, 2020-

Flange connection is a set of flanges, gaskets and bolts, to be connected as a set of sealing structure detachable connection. Flanges are used for connection between pipe ends, and also for connection between equipment inlet and outlet, such as reducer flanges. Pipeline flange refers to the pipeline device, used in the equipment. Among which, carbon steel flange and stainless steel flange are one of the most widely used flanges. There are holes in the flange, and the bolts are to make the two flanges connect with together. Gaskets are used as seals between the two flanges.

There are many kinds of flanges, which are mainly classified based on the nominal diameter (type A, type B, i.e., metric system), nominal pressure, structural form, material, sealing surface form and connection mode. Here are some classifications of flanges for your reference.

Flange Structural form: plate type flat welding flange (PL), neck flat welding flange (SO), neck butt welding flange (WN), integral flange (IF), socket welding flange (SW), threaded flange (Th), butt welding ring loose flange (PJ/PE), ring loose flange (PJ/JR)

Sealing surface form: protruding surface (RF), concave-convex surface (MFM), tenon surface (TG), full plane (FF) and ring connection surface (RJ)

Material: cast iron, carbon steel flange, alloy steel flange, stainless steel, plastic
