What are the different groove welds

To ensure the quality of welding, the workpiece needs to be welded before the processing, by gas cutting or blading.Usually the surface is inclined, sometimes curved. For example, to weld two plates, 10mm in thickness, to make a firm weld, there would be a plate edge chamfering left, which is called groove. J provides welded pipes with different material, like ASTM A53 welded pipe, ASTM A213 stainless steel welded pipe, BS 1387 galvanized welded pipe.


Due to the different conditions of material and plate thickness, the welding joint form and groove shape are not the same. Generally, groove welds are divided into K, V, I, U, X and so on. Here is a list of some normal groove welds:
